For the third quarter of 2008, the industry continued to suffer a decrease in occupancy rates. Due to a slowdown in new construction for the year, this was an unexpected turn. However, as we continue to see market fluctuations, and as unemployment rates increase, we can anticipate little improvement in the immediate future. Hang on tight for the next 12 – 18 months! EPMS collected shopping report data from 43 participating companies during the third quarter of 2008, welcoming several new companies to the list of participants. EPMS’ Quarterly Shopping Report Comparison (Benchmark) reflects an average participant score of 88.23% for the quarter. This number is slightly lower than the posted second quarter average, but it shows an improvement of 2.3% over the same quarter’s performance in 2007.

Comprehensive training and well-supported shopping report programs appear to be driving average report scores to an all-time high in the history of the Benchmark.
