Getting the Telephone Prospect's Phone Numbers (and other follow up information!)A telephone number provides the best source to follow up with your telephone prospect. We recommend you get at least two phone numbers (home and work) and perhaps three (cell number, boyfriend, girlfriend, parent). If you have spent the time to “connect” with your telephone prospect, they will not mind giving you their phone number. You have created a “relationship” with this prospect so just ask! Assume the phone number: Rather than asking for the telephone prospect’s numbers, giving them the chance to answer with a “no”, simply request that information. “Rick, let me get your telephone number in case something comes up!” And what might come up? A hurricane? A nuclear disaster? No, silly! What might come up is a better location or floor plan for the telephone prospect’s needs and wants. Again, the phone prospect wants you to have this information IF you have connected and they feel you have something they need. After all, you two have a “relationship”, right? Why stop with just one phone number? Once you get the first number, follow up by saying: “Now, is that home or work? Oh, that’s home? Great! Now let me get your work number, too, in case I need to catch you during the day.” Can you get too much information? We don’t think so. You need as many ways as possible to stay in touch with this VIP – Very Important Prospect! In fact, we recommend this follow up “code” for every telephone prospect: “3pn1fn2pa1ea” That code stands for: 1. 3 Phone Numbers (home, work, cell, friend, etc…) 2. 1 Fax Number (many folks have a home fax #) 3. 2 Physical Addresses (try home and work to start with) 4. 1 Email address (another excellent contact and follow up place) To listen to the Audio portion of this training tip click here |
